Community Learning at Temple Israel South Shore: An intergenerational, outside-the-box alternative to “Hebrew School”

Our overall goals:

Exposing children, teens and adults to the
    richness of Jewish learning
Exciting them about the process of learning
    and developing their Jewish identity
Engaging them in an on-going exploration
of Jewish life, history, and culture

We strive to achieve these goals through a Sunday morning program that is theme-based, with themes lasting for several weeks and sometimes months (e.g., “the immigrant experience”). Activities in support of the theme include text study, discussions of videos and films, singing, drama, and artwork. (We hope to add internet exploration in the coming year.)
