Learning – At Temple Israel South Shore, it’s not just a kid thing. Our educational program at Temple Israel is much more than just a “Hebrew School” for children. Here at Temple Israel, education means community learning. “Community” as in everyone – parents and non-parents, Jews and non-Jews, children and teens. We want our children to be engaged in Jewish education and to learn to love Judaism and feel good about their identity as Jews. Researchers over the past several decades have come to the resounding conclusion that our children develop positive identities as Jews to the extent that they witness their parents and other adults exploring and enjoying Judaism themselves. This simple yet profound conclusion provides the underlying principle for our Sunday morning Community Learning program. |
